The current Saturn Vue Green Line uses a version of hybrid technology, known as stop-start, which shuts down the gasoline engine at idle. That mild hybrid technology produces a fuel economy improvement of about 25 percent over its conventional counterparts. Not bad. But the next Saturn Vue Green Line—the “two-mode” hybrid version scheduled to begin production in late 2008—promises a 45 to 50 percent bump in fuel efficiency. That’s huge.

The front-wheel drive Saturn Vue Two-Mode hybrid is expected to get about 30 miles per gallon combined, and as much as 36 miles per gallon on the highway. These fuel economy figures, which are not final or official yet, will catapult the Saturn Vue to the top of the charts for SUV mileage.

Just like the milder version, the two-mode hybrid system allows the Vue Green Line avoids wasting fuel during stop and go city driving. But the two-mode can also maintain the gas-free electric mode at low speeds—and mitigate fuel use during sudden bursts of acceleration.

The Saturn Vue Two-Mode Hybrid will help General Motors to earn a reputation as an automaker that’s serious about creating environment-friendly vehicles. At the same time, the Green Line delivers more than adequate performance. It’s powered by a 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine, equipped with direct injection and variable valve timing to optimize the use of fuel. The powertrain is very similar to the one found in the Chevrolet Tahoe and the GMC Yukon Hybrids.

In terms of styling, General Motors has looked to Opel, its German manufacturing counterpart, to help invigorate the look and feel of the Saturn brand. That’s evident in the Saturn Vue, which took on the image of Opel’s Antara giving the crossover SUV a European flair.

Change Your Oil

One of the most important elements you must be aware of if you want to keep your car and engine in a perfect working condition is to regularly change the oil.

Oil plays a very important part in the well functioning of your engine, as it is used to lubricate all the moving elements. Your engine will run cleaner if you take care of it and change the oil when it gets older. With time, due to the conditions the motor runs, the oil will get dirty and will lose its initial properties, and will not protect your engine parts efficiently. Do not forget to always change the oil filter when you change the oil itself, because if not, the fresh oil will get contaminated from start with dirt and particles from the old fluid. Fresh oil makes no difference if the filter is clogged.

It is recommended to change the engine oil after each 3000 miles. For some cars, this number can be doubled. Consult the car’s owner’s manual and check the producer’s recommendations. Most producers will have mentioned two different intervals for changing the oil. One is for people who use the car in light conditions, while the other, shorter, is for those who operate their vehicles in difficult conditions (extreme temperatures, in dusty or in very crowded areas).

Check that the car is in park and the emergency brake is pulled before getting to change the oil. Remember; take every safety measures before starting working. You might also ask someone to assist in with the process.

First, loosen the drain plug. Just loosen it and do not remove it.

Next, grab the drain pan and fix it under the drain plug and let the old oil drain itself in the pan.

The next step is to change the oil filter. You might find it a challenge to loosen the old one, but in the end it will loosen and come off. Be advised that it will still have oil in its pipes and be careful not to stain yourself.

When all the oil has drained from the car, rearrange the drain plug in inverse order.

Now it is time to install the new filter. To install it easily, lubricate its threads and the sealing rubber with new oil and screw it into position.

After removing the engine oil cap, grab the new oil canister and pour it through the funnel into the motor.

Do not overfill. Read in the manual the amount of oil you will have to pour.

Before starting the engine, take one last look to be sure that no oil is leaking.

Do not drive your car just now. Let it with the engine running for a couple of minutes so the new oil will start lubricating the motor. Also, check that no oil leaks appear.

At the 1953 Motorama car show, the Corvette that Earl designed was finally unveiled to the shocked public.

The body of the car was originally made with fiberglass, which was brand new at the time. The performance of the car was similar to other Chevrolets produced at the time, but when Chevrolet released it with the first V8 engine in 1955, it became more powerful and therefore quite popular.

Since it was first introduced, there have been six different generations of Corvettes. The first version of the Corvette had about 290 horsepower and a relatively new fuel injection system. There were several options available to it, including power windows and a convertible top. The second version of the Corvette is also quite important as it was known as the Corvette Sting Ray and had four-wheel disc brakes. There are only five of these coveted models left in existence.

The third version had the oddest introduction of the entire group, as it was shown to the public through Mattel’s Hot Wheels line, which had been released a few weeks before the actual car was meant to be shown. The fourth generation was praised for its aerodynamic design, which was uncommon at the time. The fifth generation celebrated the Corvette’s fiftieth anniversary, but also improved the car’s power in nearly every area. The sixth generation Corvette was recently released and has focused on improving the power of the car, rather than creating a new look.

Even though the Corvette name has been around for over fifty years, it continues to be noteworthy to automobile enthusiasts. In 1984 and 1998, it won Motor Trend’s Car of the Year and has appeared on dozens of Ten Best Car lists. The car truly is a piece of automobile history. In fact, the oldest Corvette in existence recently sold at an auction at the price of one million US dollars. Mercedes Recalls The 2007 GLX164

Mercedes Benz USA, LLC. announced that they will be recalling certain models of the 2007 GLX164. They stated that on certain passenger vehicles equipped wit diesel engines, the crankshaft sensor could fail due to a separation of bond wires from the lead frame in the sensor.
